Putting together a compelling presentation is very easy

On September 10, 2019, at 1 pm in room E-402 a Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP) was held with the theme "How to compile an interesting ppt by considering the cognitive load". This KSP was presented by Dr. Ir. Fransisca H. Chandra, M.T. At this KSP program, the objective is to improve students' ability for presentation. Because many students are still making presentations with nonsense and the material presented is also not well mastered. Therefore, KSP is given tips and tricks to make a good presentation.

First, before making a presentation, you must know who the audience is and the purpose of our presentation. Is it just to provide information or just as an entertainer or as an inspiration. And after that, create a story board or overview of our presentation. During the manufacturing process, not only pay attention to the material that has been mastered but how to place the writing, images and animation as well.

It is impossible to display text in very small fonts and fonts that are difficult to read. After font selection is color selection. From choosing the color, determine the atmosphere that will be brought in the presentation. Because each color has its own meaning and there are colors that are not suitable to be combined into one, because they are too contrasting. Don't forget to insert a picture for the existing visualization. Because the visualization of images will make it easier for the audience to absorb the material. That is what is known as cognitive load. Cognitive load will affect how each person accepts and absorbs the material presented.

"If, only studying and there is no training in a course, it is the same," said Mrs. Fransisca. It is true that what was conveyed, because if only theory and no practice. Then the information is only temporary and then lost or usually forgotten. And the last thing in the presentation was mastery of the material. Because it is impossible in the presentation to fully read the existing slides. But it can tell the material you want to present.
