S2 di Taiwan, Why Not?

On Thursday, February 6, 2020, an alumnus of ISTTS, Ms. Christian N.P. held a KSP entitled "Now We Tell Story About That Day". The title of KSP by Kak Christian was inspired by a film. In this seminar Ms. Christian shared stories about her journey during her undergraduate education. Not only that, he also shared what he got during his master's degree in EECS (Electrical Engineering and Computer Science). Now he is continuing his Masters studies at National Chiao Tung University (NCTU), Taiwan.

The knowledge that Brother Christian learned includes Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, and others. In his presentation, he brought up some interesting research at KSP, ranging from robots that can express their emotions through eyebrow movements, to making personal music players by implanting chips or the like in the human body. He also includes videos and photos he took during the lecture process. In fact, he also taught the participants who took the KSP Kak Christian. KSP participants did not only come from the Informatics, Information Systems, or Electrical majors, but there were also students majoring in design who also attended the occasion.

This KSP performed by Ms. Christian is different from the others. What makes the difference? He provides various kinds of Taiwanese food and snacks. Starting from buns, pastels, to snacks such as kitkat, mochi, and others. The participants who were getting too late were excited again to take part in the KSP. After the break passed, Brother Christian began to switch topics. He shared how he lived in Taiwan during the past few months as a student. Starting from income, expenses, lifestyle, food, and things about the NCTU campus.

Kak Christian shared that life in Taiwan is very fun. Starting from cheap street food, delicious canteen food, and comfortable laboratory rooms. Unlike what we imagine, the laboratory at NCTU contains a television, kitchen, dining table, work table, and many more. On the other hand, he also gained a lot of connections and experience studying while working while living in Taiwan. As a student who received a scholarship, he worked on projects awarded by his university.

With this KSP held by Ms. Christian, hopefully it can inspire many ISTTS students to continue their education to a higher level! Not only the Informatics department, but other majors also have the opportunity to continue their Masters studies abroad, such as Ms. Christian. Hopefully this KSP can be a trigger for ISTTS students who wish to continue their Masters studies abroad.
